Food labels in the US must comply with the requirement of American federal regulations (21 CFR 101.9 for general food; 21 CFR 101.36 for dietary supplement). In order to convey the correct nutrition facts to consumers, label makers should fully understand the requirements of food labels and ensure that every details is standardized. The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) officially issued the Key Points for the Review of the Change of Registration Certificate for Health Foods with No Validity Period and No Technical Requirements in Production and Sale (hereinafter referred to as the Key Points) on November 1st, 2024 in order to standardize the health food registration certificates of products with no validity period.
On October 11, 2024, the State Administration of Market Supervision (SAMSAR) issued the ‘Dosage Forms and Technical Requirements for Health Food Products for Record (2024 Edition) (Draft for Opinion)’ and the ‘Regulations on Usable Excipients and Their Usage for Health Food Products for Record (2024 Edition) (Draft for Opinion)’ for public consultation, and the deadline for feedback is November 10, 2024, for the society.

China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) is seeking suggestions for new health functions to be included in the directory of permitted claims for health foods. According to information released by China's Center for Food Evaluation (CFE) and the Special Food Information Query Platform, a total of 720 health food (dietary supplement) registration approvals were issued in the first half of 2024, 253 of which are new health food products.
