There are mainly 6 reasons for CIQ rejection, which covered more than 83% of the batches rejected, respective proportions were showed in Figure 1.

Highlights
1. Copper content does not count as a testing item for chocolate and its product
National Standards for Food Safety-Chocolate, Cocoa Butter Replacer and its Product (GB 2678.2-2014) were released on December 24 of 2014. According to this regulation, from the date of promulgation the copper content will not count as a testing item any more. So in the future, copper exceeded will not hinder the importation of chocolate and its product which into China.2. Products containing the ingredients of animal origin or plant origin should have quarantine admission qualification
Four batches of instant noodle products from Taiwan were refused to import by local CIQ because of containing animal origin ingredients which without quarantine admission qualification. Related product manufactures should pay more attention.
3. Illegal use of food additives
As the differences between international food additive standards, lots of imported foods were refused because of incompliant use of food additives. The latest regulation National Food Safety Standards for the Usage of Food Additives (GB 2760-2014) was enacted by the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China (NHFPC) on December 24 of 2014, which will formally implement on May 24 of 2015. The National Food Safety Standards for the Usage of Food Additives (GB 2760-2014) details approved food additive categories, range of application and maximum dosage. To reduce the risk, all food additives you used should be checked according to GB 2760-2014 and Notices regarding food additives published by NHFPC before import.
