Recently, China's National Health Commission (NHC) Government Services Platform issued notifications regarding the approval and review of “Thee new foods” (new food raw materials, new food additives, and new food-related products). The notifications included a notification of approval of review findings for 6 new food materials and 10 new food additives.

Recently, Guilin Layn Natural Ingredients Corp. Novel Food Applications for Synthetic Biology-Derived Products Under the New EU Regulations
On September 30, 2024, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) issued new regulations regarding novel foods, including:
Administrative guidance for novel food applications – Guidelines on the procedural requirements for submitting applications.
Scientific guidance for novel food applications – Guidelines on safety data requirements for submitted substances.
Both documents have already taken effect on February 1, 2025.
CIRS Assists Maiggic in Rapid Approval of PQQ Disodium Salt for Substantial Equivalence
On January 7, 2025, China's National Health Commission updated the termination review list for new food ingredients. The PQQ disodium salt, produced by fermentation using the Hyphomicrobium denitrificans MQ004-2 strain by Hubei Magic Health Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Maiggic”), was included in the list. The review concluded that it is substantially equivalent to the PQQ disodium salt announced in the 2023 No. 8 notice. Except for the production process, other requirements align with those of the already announced PQQ disodium salt.
